College Open Days

Attending an Open Day is one of the best ways to get a feel for the College and learn about life studying and socialising here.  Please note that as Newnham is a women’s college, these events are for women only.

We run several Open Days throughout the year, and take part in the University’s wider Open Days each July.  These open days are primarily aimed at sixth-form students who are considering applying to Cambridge and would like to know more about the University, the Colleges, courses available, and the admissions process.

Open Day Travel Fund

The University of Cambridge has established a travel fund to enable children in (or previously in) care to travel to Open Day events organised by the University and Colleges of Cambridge. Further information is available on the University website.

We are keen to meet as many prospective applicants as we can through our Open Days, which unfortunately means that we are unable to include parents and guardians in the main programme. However, our events include parent/guardian-specific sessions, and parents and guardians are welcome to explore the College grounds.

Pupil Premium Open Day - Monday 2 July 2018

Newnham College is holding its second Pupil Premium Open Day for Year 11 girls who are currently eligible for Pupil Premium Grant (PPG). This is a free event, including full travel grants.

This is a friendly event, specifically for Year 11 girls eligible for PPG, and we hope that it will feel relaxed and supportive.

Newnham College has organised the event to encourage applications to study at Cambridge from disadvantaged pupils. This event is aimed at Year 11 students in order to offer advice about sixth-form choices, at a point where this information can be most useful.

The day will include a taster lecture, a careers session, advice on A-level choices and financial support, and the opportunity to speak to current undergraduates.

Teachers can nominate up to five Year 11 girls studying at their school to attend the event if the school receives PPG for them. Nominated students must also complete a student consent form.

Nominate students here.
Student consent form can be found here.

All travel expenses will be paid for by Newnham, and lunch will be provided on the day.

The programme for the open day can be found here.
