College Open Days

Attending an Open Day is one of the best ways to get a feel for the College and learn about life studying and socialising here.  Please note that as Newnham is a women’s college, these events are for women only.

We run several Open Days throughout the year, and take part in the University’s wider Open Days each July.  These open days are primarily aimed at sixth-form students who are considering applying to Cambridge and would like to know more about the University, the Colleges, courses available, and the admissions process.

Open Day Travel Fund

The University of Cambridge has established a travel fund to enable children in (or previously in) care to travel to Open Day events organised by the University and Colleges of Cambridge. Further information is available on the University website.

We are keen to meet as many prospective applicants as we can through our Open Days, which unfortunately means that we are unable to include parents and guardians in the main programme. However, our events include parent/guardian-specific sessions, and parents and guardians are welcome to explore the College grounds.

Newnham College September Open Day - 8 September 2018

On the day, attendees will also partake in an admissions workshop, run by Dr Sam Lucy (Admissions Tutor) and Sophie Parry (Schools Liaison & Outreach Officer). This will offer practical advice and guidance on:

  • Finalising your personal statement
  • Exploring your subject
  • Admissions Assessments
  • Interviews: what to expect and how to prepare

Cambridge University Open Days - 5 and 6 July 2018

The University of Cambridge and its Colleges will be opening their doors for the Cambridge Open Days on Thursday 5 July and Friday 6 July 2018. Newnham College will of course be open as part of this, with tours of the College from current students.

These events are for prospective applicants in Year 12 (or the equivalent) and prospective mature applicants (aged 21 or over) only, together with up to two parents or supporters.

On the day you’ll be able to find out what the University and Colleges have to offer through presentations about our courses, the application process, student life, and finance. You’ll also have the opportunity to talk to current undergraduates and staff from the Colleges and academic departments.
