Lunchtime recital: Susanna Alsey (Violin)

Susanna Alsey (NC 2017) on Violin, and Michael Stephens-Jones on Piano, will be presenting the following programme:

Beethoven, Romance in F major, Opus 50

Bartók, Romanian Folk Dances, Sz. 56 (A selection)

Paganini, Cantabile

Susanna is a keen violinist in her second year reading Music at Newnham College. She is currently studying violin with Ruth Ehrlich and Julian Milone. During her time at the University of Cambridge, Susanna has enjoyed playing in piano trios, Cambridge University Orchestra, the Empyrean Ensemble, Cambridge University Opera Society’s main show, Ansteig Symphony Orchestra, Cambridge Brahms Festival, 2020 Chamber Orchestra and The Raikes Consort. A particular highlight from her first year includes working with Sir Mark Elder. She is looking forward to working with Sian Edwards next week. Susanna was also a member of the Kent County Youth Orchestra for five years and leader for the 2017-2018 season and is a Choral Scholar in Selwyn College Chapel Choir. She has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra in a lunchtime concert and is first violinist in The Sorelle Quartet.

Michael Stephens-Jones is in his first-year reading music & holds the Organ Scholarship at Selwyn College, Cambridge. Originally from Hertford, he was previously Organ Scholar to Tewkesbury Abbey and organist in residence to the Dean Close Foundation, Cheltenham, during his gap year.
