This year MACUW have arranged an evening in the restored home of Elizabeth Gaskell at 84, Plymouth Grove, Manchester, M13 9LW.
The plan is to meet there shortly before 7 when we shall have a tea/supper of the sandwiches plus cake variety with tea and coffee. Anthony Burton will give us a talk; this will be followed by a tour of the house. Anthony spent most of his working life as a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. For many years he was also a Trustee of the Charles Dickens Museum in Bloomsbury. Since coming to live in Greater Manchester he has maintained his interest in literary houses, by becoming a Trustee and volunteer at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. Please contact Helen Wright if you wish to attend. The deadline for bookings is Friday, May 17th.
