Newnham Family Forum 2017: Mental Health in Young People

We are delighted to invite you to the Newnham Family Forum (the new identity for NewnhamRoll Mums) from 10am on Saturday 14 October 2017.

The Forum is a unique opportunity for alumnae to get together to discuss issues relevant to the raising, mentoring and empowerment of the next generations.

This year our theme is Mental Health, particularly in relation to young people. This has become a pressing matter as the number of under-eighteen year olds who have been diagnosed with mental health conditions has risen dramatically in recent years: are our children struggling more, or are we more aware of issues as they arise? We are joined by experts from fields as diverse as music therapy, psychiatry and app developers, as well as Dr Ros Ridley, who will deliver a fascinating keynote speech on the subject of Peter Pan, and the novel’s insights into the cognitive development of children. Are you wondering how to parent, grandparent or mentor children and young adults in a way that supports their mental well-being? Whatever your age, or your relationship with the issues surrounding the mental health of young people, we would love you to join us for a day of fascinating talks, collaborative panel discussions and, of course, lively informal conversations about the day’s topics over a good lunch.
