Working at Newnham College

Newnham College is an educational charity, founded in 1871 to promote academic excellence for women. Its primary purposes today are still education, learning and research. The College employs many different groups of non-academic staff - clerical staff, gardeners, porters, housekeeping, kitchens and maintenance. When there are vacancies, jobs will be advertised on this website and often in the Cambridge Evening News or other specialist magazines (for example, The Caterer).

The College has an ethos of personal responsibility, and of respect for the dignity of other members of the Newnham community, be they academic or non-academic staff, graduate or undergraduate students. We encourage an environment in which each individual can develop personally, and can take on new roles when ready to do so. Each member of the Newnham community plays her or his own part in our success, and we value their individual contributions. We are committed to seeking the views of all staff when making decisions that affect them, and we welcome suggestions as to how we might do things better.
