Part-time Database Officer and Administrator – Development Office



We are looking to appoint a Database Officer and Administrative Assistant to work at the heart of our Development Office.

Newnham College has a successful and well-established Alumnae Relations and Fundraising Programme. We have a strong alumnae community of 8,000 former students around the world which we greatly value. We are proud that we are amongst the top three Colleges in the University for the number of alumnae who donate each year. Looking after their data carefully and accurately is a key and important part of our relationship with our former students. We take great care to treat each and every alumna personally.

The College completed a successful Fundraising Campaign in 2014 to raise £15.5m. In 2021 it will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding and will be developing exciting initiatives to celebrate that important date.

We are looking for a highly competent database officer who likes variety in their workload to improve, maintain and oversee all aspects of the College’s Development Office database.

Reporting to the Deputy Development Director the successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills and strong attention to detail. They will have a positive attitude and enjoy being part of a close team. The position will involve the cleaning up, improving and developing of our Raiser’s Edge database as well as the analysis and reporting of data and the creation of financial reports on a regular basis. It will involve supporting the five other members of the office in their alumnae relations and fundraising work.

The successful applicant will be proficient in using databases – previous experience of Raiser’s Edge would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. They will be IT literate and competent in MS Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook).

This is a part-time post – the role is 0.6 Full Time Equivalent (i.e. 22.5 hours per week). The College can be flexible as to the specific days worked.

Salary will be pro rata in the range of £23,500 per annum plus benefits.
