College Open Days

Attending an Open Day is one of the best ways to get a feel for the College and learn about life studying and socialising here.  Please note that as Newnham is a women’s college, these events are for women only.

We run several Open Days throughout the year, and take part in the University’s wider Open Days each July.  These open days are primarily aimed at sixth-form students who are considering applying to Cambridge and would like to know more about the University, the Colleges, courses available, and the admissions process.

Travel arrangements

Maps and directions can be found here.

Open Day Travel Fund

The University of Cambridge has established a travel fund to enable children in (or previously in) care to travel to Open Day events organised by the University and Colleges of Cambridge. Further information is available on the University website.

Newnham College also has a travel fund for students currently eligible for Free School Meals to attend College Open Days.  If you would find this helpful, contact the Admissions Office for more information.

Parents/Guardians

We are keen to meet as many prospective applicants as we can through our Open Days, which unfortunately means that we are unable to include parents and guardians in the main programme. However, our events include parent/guardian-specific sessions, and parents and guardians are welcome to explore the College grounds.

Maths Open Morning - 4 May 2019

Newnham College is holding an Open Morning as part of the Faculty of Mathematics Open Day.

The Open Morning is for women considering applying for Maths.  Attendees will take part in an interactive taster supervision with our Directors of Studies and a talk from current Newnham students about what it’s like studying as a woman in a male-dominated subject.

You can see the full Open Morning programme here!

After having lunch at Newnham, our students will accompany attendees to the Faculty of Mathematics which will be holding a variety of short lectures, drop-in sessions with academic staff and students, and Maths activities.  See the Faculty website for more information.

You can book your ‘joint College and Faculty ticket’ for the Newnham Open Morning and Faculty Open Afternoon here.

If you would prefer, you can book a single ticket for the Faculty of Mathematics Open Afternoon and then visit Newnham in the morning for a self-guided tour.  You can book your ‘single Faculty ticket’ for the Faculty’s Open Afternoon here.
