Facilities and Accommodation

The College is set in 17 acres of historic landscaped gardens and offers a peaceful retreat from the city centre. The College offers first class facilities, service and equipment to meet the needs of your meeting, conference or event. We aim to provide the very highest standard of customer service and ensure you have everything you need during your stay. The College has 370 bedrooms in its beautiful historic buildings. Wifi and tea/coffee making facilities are available in all rooms as are towels.


For many delegates catering will be part of the overall package offered; however, the College Buttery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and delegates can pay cash for any items they wish to purchase. The Buttery offers a wide range of food at very reasonable prices. The opening hours are displayed on the doors to the Buttery.

Mail/Messages and Internet/Email

Mail for delegates is placed in pigeonholes at the Porters’ Lodge. Messages may be left for residents at the Porters’ Lodge which is open 24/7, contact 01223 335 700. There is wireless internet connection throughout the College.


Coin-operated washing machines and tumble-dryers are available in certain areas of the College.

Sports Facilities

The sports field and tennis courts are available for use. For further details please contact the Conference & Events Co-ordinator on 01223 335 803 or conference@newnham.cam.ac.uk. Note that equipment cannot be provided.

Medical Facilities and First Aid

Medical cover is arranged by the College with local General Practitioners – for details please contact the Porters’ Lodge. Should medical attention be needed the Porters’ Lodge staff are all qualified first aiders.

Fire & Safety Precautions

The College is fully equipped with addressable smoke and heat detection in all rooms. In the event of a fire alarm activation the buildings must be vacated immediately. More information will be provided for delegates upon arrival at the College.
