Henry Sidgwick Memorial Lecture: Ali Smith

Newnham College is delighted to announce that author Ali Smith, CBE, will give this year’s Henry Sidgwick Memorial Lecture.

Smith’s lecture is untitled: as with her recent novels, her lecture will be shaped by current events.

Ali Smith’s most recent novel is Spring, part of her ongoing series responding to the world today. Among her best-known works are The Accidental, winner of the Whitbread Novel of the Year award, and How to be Both, winner of the Goldsmiths Prize and the Costa Book Awards.

Ali Smith was born in Inverness in 1962 and lives in Cambridge. She is a Newnham alumna, having studied towards a PhD here.

The annual Henry Sidgwick Memorial Lecture celebrates our co-founder, Professor of Philosophy Henry Sidgwick.

All are welcome to attend this free event; no booking is required.
