Food is an integral part of everyday life, and forms a large part of many cultural identities worldwide. It is key to survival, and can have a huge impact on our health. In the modern world we are often hyper aware of dietary requirements and supplements, and how what we eat impacts on our bodies – but in terms of the chemical make up of your body, are you really what you eat? This talk explores how archaeologists use chemistry on bones and teeth to determine what people ate in the past, and how this might help us know who they were.
