Born in Oxford in 1993, Fatima Lahham is a recorder player and PhD student at Christ’s College, Cambridge. She read Music at Magdalen College, Oxford University, graduating in 2014 with First Class Honours before taking up a place as a scholar at the Royal College of Music in London, where she was awarded the MMus in Historical Performance with Distinction.
In 2017 Fatima co-founded the quartet Improviso, who perform 17-18th century chamber music alongside improvisations based on practices from the same period. In September 2017 Improviso were selected as one of Creative Europe’s Emerging European Ensembles and have recently performed at the Wigmore Hall, St James’s Piccadilly, Brighton Early Music Festival, live on BBC Radio 3, and at festivals in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the Netherlands. Alongside performing, Fatima teaches a course in the Royal College of Music’s Historical Performance faculty.
