Sanditon – Jane Austen’s last work

Join us to celebrate Jane Austen’s last work, Sanditon, a wonderful fragment quite unlike the six famous completed novels. Honorary Fellow Professor Jan Todd will give a short talk on Jane Austen and her last work, the story of an up-and-coming seaside resort, and the eccentric families who live and visit there. A film version by Andrew Davies is now in production, so this is your opportunity to get “in the know”. Expect comical quotes and discussion over drinks.

All welcome, booking not necessary.

“Civilization, civilization indeed!” cried Mr. Parker, delighted. “Look, my dear Mary, look at William Heeley’s windows. Blue shoes, and nankin boots! Who would have expected such a sight at a shoemaker’s in old Sanditon! …. Glorious indeed!”
