The University and Radical Change: Raewyn Connell in conversation with Manali Desai

Raewyn Connell is one of Australia’s leading social scientists, Professor Emerita at the University of Sydney and a life member of the National Tertiary Education Union. She is the author of Southern Theory, Masculinities, and most recently The Good University (Zed books 2019).

At this event, Raewyn will discuss the shape and sources of our problems in higher education, local and global; the resources (some unexpected) that we have for dealing with them; and post-colonial, democratic pathways into a different future. Her conversation partner will be Dr Manali Desai, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Cambridge and a fellow of Newham College.

This event will take place from 4:30-6pm in the Jane Harrison Room at Newnham College, Cambridge. This is a ground floor room and there is step free access. If you are a wheelchair user, blue badge holder, or have other access requirements, please email communications@sociology.cam.ac.uk so we can ensure your needs are met.

The event will be followed by a drinks reception from 6-7pm on the Pavillion Terrace.
