Celebrating the centenary of Rosalind Franklin’s birth

I’m sure most of you are aware that Newnham alumna Rosalind Franklin would have been 100 years old tomorrow (25th July) and we are delighted that there have been lots of wonderful ways in which this incredible woman is being remembered. We wanted to share just a few of these with you:

  1. There is an excellent editorial note in Nature this week: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02144-4
  2. Birkbeck has created a whole series of celebratory videos on her important work: http://www.gel.bbk.ac.uk/home/2020-anniversary-events/short-video-series/
  3. There is even a commemorative 50p coin designed as part of the Royal Mint’s Innovation in Science Series https://www.royalmint.com/our-coins/events/rosalind-franklin/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=2020-07-com-rosalind-franklin

These are just some of the ways in which Rosalind’s brilliant mind and tireless dedication are being marked on what will be the centenary of her birth.
