Each year, Newnham’s Guild of Friends awards prizes to those students who have “made an extraordinary contribution outside of academic work.”
The prize winners are nominated by anyone in the College (academic, staff or students). Normally, 5 prizes are awarded but in recognition of this extraordinary year, the Guild of Friends have increased this to 7 prizes.

So many people had nominated so many JCR and MCR Committee members for their outstanding work this year, that it was agreed to award group prizes to the JCR and MCR Committees. Accordingly, group prizes are awarded to

2020 Guild of Friends individual prizes are awarded to
Sitara Bartle – For her charity work
Sara Dannaoui – For her efforts in supporting students in self-isolation
Rebecca Stoklund Lee – For being a joy to everyone in spite of hardship
Oluchi Ugochukwu – For her work as JCR BAME Officer
Laura Wainman – For her work on environmental issues in College and beyond and in particular the Newnham Green Week
