Disability

The College and University are committed to providing appropriate support for students with disabilities.

The College works closely with the University’s Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre to ensure that students have what they need to take full advantage of their time at university, so it is important that you liaise with them, and us if appropriate, to make sure that any special requirements can be met. If you are entitled to extra time in exams at school, this will be the case at University too, including in any admissions tests. Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) can be helpful in meeting additional costs.

Newnham has some accessible student rooms, particularly in the new Dorothy Garrod Building, and lifts serve some parts of the College (Dorothy Garrod Building, Clough Hall). If you have mobility concerns please get in touch with the Admissions Office to arrange an individual visit to have a look around.

For further details of facilities and access at Newnham, the other Cambridge Colleges and University buildings, please see the Disability Resource Centre guide.

We are able to offer some financial assistance to those with mobility problems (either temporary or otherwise) on production of receipts for taxi fares etc; please contact the Financial Tutor for information about how to apply.
